I think the point he is trying to make is that the cost of living is so high in many places that even those making incredible sums are not as objectively wealthy as they seem and that has severe implications for the other 99 percent trying to live in those places.

Yes, but it's a different world - struggling to send three kids to a private school and take 2 international vacations per year may feel like a struggle, but only from a very localized point of view

i literally don’t understand. obviously someone making 400k is salaried but if you broke it down hourly that’s almost $192/hour by a conservative estimate for full time work. people who want $15/hr are lazy freeloaders when they’re making less than 30k but 400k isn’t rich??? d*e

my parents live in one of the most expensive regions in the country, even adjusted for median income, and this is just blatantly fucking false. Also people choose to live in expensive places for the luxuries there; they're just choosing between city w/ good weather and a mansion
