After the two thrown projectjles, things mellowed dramatically. Protesters started an impromptu concert. The focus turned to the musicians rather than the building The crowd started thinning I can usually tell when protests are winding down. I left at 11:40

In reporters' defense, the message about losing the message sells. Readers don't want to think too hard about the brutality that underpins our society. They'd much rather pretend the policing system mostly works despite stacks of bloody evidence to the contrary
