There won't be any New York Times articles about this. Even local coverage will be real small But I'll keep getting emails from family and friends about how violent the protests are, how "the message is being lost" Lost by who? It's not lost to us. Who's losing it?

In reporters' defense, the message about losing the message sells. Readers don't want to think too hard about the brutality that underpins our society. They'd much rather pretend the policing system mostly works despite stacks of bloody evidence to the contrary
