Hi there, has your participation in protests alienated family members and close friends? I'm thinking about writing an article about this sort of thing and I'd love to hear your story. You can be anonymous DMs are open

It's brought my family closer. My father, a staunch Trumper, was beside himself when I was shot in the face. Lines are being crossed that are unacceptable to him. My grandmother, a Republican her entire life, has educated herself and will never vote Republican again.

This was not he case when I was protesting after 9/11. My grandmother told me I should leave the country if I didn't love it. Friends told me I should be put in a camp. Maybe it's the violence against peaceful protesting or they trust me more but this time it's different.
