When you are assembling in a residential neighborhood demanding that others come out and join you, you are taking away their agency. You are shaming them. I know you think that's justified--although in the normal outside of PDX bubble world, the idea of shaming for a nebulous...

... ideology that is both obvious and tactically ineffective is... Ineffective, in Portland I guess it's what one does to one"s neighbor: bully and shame them. But in the case of this little old lady, all you've done is convince her antifa is real and she's in danger.

You've made a Trump voter! Well done. When my husband learned about what's going on there, he decided we're getting a gun. That was his PTSD reaction. Because he's lived through the 12th of July and "peaceful" parades. I pointed out that people here are not as dumb....

You're making a very compelling argument that the old lady you just made up has been radicalized by the situation you've just made up

For Trump. And she's not the only one. Thousands of little old ladies across the country are watching the footage. Now they hate you. Was the objective to feel important? Special? If you'd done something like the Bend stand off. If you'd done something that protected people--

By wandering through a blue neighborhood yelling at people who (mostly) don't disagree with you? All you've done piss some of them off and frighten others. The American idea of home is so engrained. Don't roll your eyes and mutter something about property and capitalism--

--it's more than that. It's about a refuge. A safe space. You're violating a lot of peoples' refugee in a very scary time. I know, it's "so they know." Know what? That you burned down their police precinct? I think they got that memo. That Black Lives Matter? They knew that too.

It also must be said, other obvious point: y'all aren't doing this in Gresham or Lake Oswego because you know you'd get shot.

.......are you from here? 1: no one gets shot in fucking Lake Oswego 2: the protest has gone to Gresham several times You seem to think you know what you're talking about but actually you've just made up a bunch of things you assume are true. It's weird and I'm done

Yes. The hallmark of a good protestor is one that doesn't engage a dissenting opinion without body armor, a green laser, and one hundred close friends. This also works for gangs. I haven't been to Portland in ages. But I am still positive a Lake Oswego protest would end bad.
