While going through our things as a friend was arrested they told my other friend, in reference to them having "weapons" for safety in walking home, who you gonna call when you get raped, ghost busters? Me: they would probably be more helpful then all y'all are.
"who are you going to call WHEN you get raped" AAAAAAAAAA (Yeah I don't know a single person the cops helped after a rape, not one)

I've felt for a long time that one is more likely to be raped by a cop than to have their rapist brought to justice by a cop. But I'm a cynical native Portlander.

(1/2) Canadian here, a few years ago when one of my best friends got raped she did everything "correctly" and quickly. The cops didn't do shit until I started screaming at them day after day. My friend was Indigenous so I'm sure they just didn't give a shit.

(2/2) The story has a (happy is the wrong word but I digress) ending, her rapist ended up being charged, arrested and convicted, and is currently in prison, which so rarely happens. So there's that. But it shouldn't have taken me as a white guy to help get that ball rolling.
