For example, no would like to see a domestic violence unit. You call 911 with a complaint about a domestic disturbance, it gets routed to this group. These people are trained in deescalation, help for DV and sexual assault victims, etc. They don't need guns for this job

And yes, am agency for violent crime. This force will need to be armed, but it must be wholly reconstituted to break with the institutional culture of the current police. They will never be asked to interact with less serious crimes or matters

I don't want lawlessness. I want law enforcement that ACTUALLY protects and serves

These are precise issues for legislators and experts to work out. There should be a period of defunding while we ramp down the current force and establish the institutions that will replace them. It will likely take years But the end goal must be abolition, in my opinion

If the fact that I don't have a 100-page PDF of my 228-point 20-year plan for abolishing the police is a deal breaker for you, I guess the deal is broken I believe we can create something better if we decide to do it. I don't believe we're trapped in the status quo

Also, have you ever called in a burglary or property crime? Because mostly, police fail to solve murders, fail to investigate burglaries, shoot minorities and people in mental crisis, and give traffic tickets They don't actually do what you say they do now
