Her name isn't ALex and she doesn't work at a coffee shop Why are you so determined to give the police the benefit of the doubt at every turn? What do you get out of it, aside from the comforting notion that these armed killers aren't a mortal danger to anyone who crosses them?

It's not about individuals. It's about a system born from slave patrols and union-busting thugs that has never reformed its basic outlook on policing Systems make monsters

Incidentally, if you were providing evidence that would be balance. As it is, you're just engaging in aggressive wishful thinking and what-if-ism

People have different ideas. What I would like to see is abolition of the police, who will then be replaced by several different departments who will take on law enforcement duties, but with a focus on deescalation and help rather than violence as a one-size-fits-all solution

For example, no would like to see a domestic violence unit. You call 911 with a complaint about a domestic disturbance, it gets routed to this group. These people are trained in deescalation, help for DV and sexual assault victims, etc. They don't need guns for this job

A traffic department takes over traffic enforcement. They know traffic law forwards and backwards. They don't need guns for this job An agency that specialize in addiction and mental health crises

And yes, am agency for violent crime. This force will need to be armed, but it must be wholly reconstituted to break with the institutional culture of the current police. They will never be asked to interact with less serious crimes or matters

I don't want lawlessness. I want law enforcement that ACTUALLY protects and serves
