Maybe you're wondering why an unlawful assembly has been declared. If so, you're probably new here. An unlawful assembly means nothing except that the police plan to use violence. Anything I could point to that's happening now has happened on nights not declared unlawful

Looks like it. Cops in the park also. There's nowhere to go This might be itpic.twitter.com/SSFtUUOVlh

The trumpeter plays the Sad Trombone sound and it's the funniest shit I've ever heard

Weird things are happening. The police line closes on us and then melts away. No arrests. Main street gassed. We're trapped but unhar.ed These menacing fellows begin to walk down Main towards 2ndpic.twitter.com/FjZBXs1aYV

2nd and main gassed. They just stand there watching They are communicating without words. They could hurt us if they wanted to. Arrest us if they wanted to. Aren't we lucky they don't seem to want to? Yet?pic.twitter.com/bxv3Yja5jy

There's more press than protesters here at this point so I make my way back to the District Courthouse A small group has returned, mostly the Moms "Stay tight!" one of the mom activists screams over and over, trying to get the chant going Feds inside the fence, facing off
Show this thread -
One of the moms, who is black, is giving these fuckers the lecture of a lifetime They answer with silence punctuated by occasional pepper balls
Show this thread -
These fellows inside the fence look different from people we've seen here before This thing about the Feds going home? Kinda feels like the opposite. It's a fucking Baskin Robbins around here: we've got 32 flavors of feds and then somepic.twitter.com/xmldeyCwFH

A commotion at 2nd and Salmon . Gas deployed. By the time I get there the protesters are elated. "Yeah, get back in your hole!!" I guess they must have done their " pop smoke" trick They're off to 2nd and Main, where DHS boys await. I like the spirit of this group

Sorry this is out of order, things are a bit tense We were driven back from 2nd and Salmon. At 3rd and Salmon, we found a larger group of feds engaging a letter group of protesters Here's a video from 2nd and Salmonpic.twitter.com/F9HMGvaF3F

Currently a standoff at 3rd and Salmon, with the feds between the protesters and the courthouse "What are you? Blackwater?!" "Dear mom, I'm so proud. Today I went to Portland and fucked up a bunch of hippies"

We've got that green gas Sound on to listen to "Bye Bye Bye" while we get gassedpic.twitter.com/G7gc5vQEeT

It's ready difficult to follow the thread of what's happenings. Someone threw a firecracker at the feds in 3rd and they gassed us with that green shit and retreated to 2nd and Salmon All I can think is: is Bye Bye Bye by N'Sync or Backstreet Boys?

The feds retreat into the District Courthouse. Look me in the eye and tell me this isn't the most cyberpunk shit you've seen in your entire lifepic.twitter.com/K9N23KBy43

Crowd waiting at the garage. Playing Guillotine again. God I love this songpic.twitter.com/dJpv9wMImw

It's N'Sync, right? For Bye Bye Bye? I'm pretty sure. God I hated that song when I was 13. I was like, that's for little girls, I'm a badass goth chick I like Marilyn Manson and Rammstein Turns out it's all about context (Yes I just dated the fuck out of myself)

Anyway protesters are pushing in that garage door periodically. As this yields no results people start to wander back up to 3rd St

Back on 3rd and Salmon. Someone tell Donald Trump that his boys seriously injured this intersectionpic.twitter.com/LdiIkh0E6P

Maybe 150 people here, scattered. People grooving to The Coup and looking around nervously. What a fascinating combination, dancing and fear. Music and movement reminding our brains that we're alive, we're ok Well, more or less. Protesters sit on the curb and compare injuries

I literally have no idea what they're shooting at right nowpic.twitter.com/a6kNzE8u8r
Show this thread -
A couple protesters take it upon themselves to clean up the park by dumping the trash over the fence. "Feed, feed the piggies! It's feeding time!" The feds do not approve: a loud and voluminous retort of pepper balls At least I know what they're shooting at this time
Show this thread -
The guy throwing the trash is putting on a show. "Look at this!!" he exclaims, pointing at a white patch near his crotch. "They try to shoot me in the dick!" He makes a show of tasting the pepper residue. "I'm not liking that. A little spicier next time, boys"

And they come out and gas everything obviously. This is a very small part of it. The park also fills with clouds of chemics Bella Ciao plays loudpic.twitter.com/PoaaV4jKhg

Someone throws a large firecracker over the fence. Feds retort with pepper balls. The usual
Show this thread -
Not quite usual I guess. Usually with this few protesters it would be kinda quiet right now. They'd be resting and waiting for most of us to wander off. Which, for the record, I would love to do But the pepper barrages keep coming and I feel certain more gas is in our future
