This falls in line with discourse around acts of bravery & daring that white privilege inherently enables that often are praised in a way that unintentionally pulls focus. Put another way, an equivalent degree of risk assumed for BIPOC is inherently a more subtle act.

That's not to say this isn't bad ass & obviously takes differ but in listening to a variety of perspectives, the point has been raised that privilege is often absent from conversations around striking actions. What that means isn't for me to judge but def appreciate the dialogue.

Hopefully that makes sense? It's def not up to me to say whether or not it's a good use of privilege but it's on me to listen to different view points & hold serious space for these criticisms as there's a lot to reflect on by way of optical allyship vs solidarity.

I can’t help but feel like, yeah, it was brave because they could have decided to attack, but also reinforces the privilege she has because of the body she has.

If she had been fat, Black, trans, old, the events would have unfolded much differently, and that’s a problem. These protests are about Black people being murdered by police, and this feels white-centering.

This isn’t provocation, there’s no reason they would have attacked. So little thought went into this. To me it seems like a something that would be wild to experience as the person doing it but carries little purpose other than that

I respectfully disagree. That specific line of feds had just blasted everyone with pepper balls and mace for about three blocks. You can check my pinned tweet for exactly what those people did to me If you haven't faced down the feds, please believe me that it is an Experience

I dont mean to say that they don’t attack for no reason bc they do. I mean to say; I don’t understand how this white Womans body which white supremacy/cops have protected violently for hundreds of years is a brave protest. It doesn’t fight against racism and not even misogyny
