My parents just crossed into Oregon for a week-long visit at the coast. I'll be joining them there for part of it. They're like "call us to set up plans we are so happy to be here!" so I'm drinking water and trying to remember how to make normal sounds with my mouth about life

It's a delicate conversation for all the reasons you'd expect and also because they are hardcore right-wing Objectivist capitalists (they are not, thank God, Trump supporters)

Nod, interesting. That seems like....they sit on a knife's edge of being supportive or very opposed. Maybe they can be angry at the police union? Or the cops wanting soldier honor but union perks? May the Force be with you in any case
