I liked that book. Ayn Rand has some interesting concepts and philosophy
I grew up Objectivist so I've read it many times, but I haven't read it for a LONG time, certainly not since changing my views. I need to reread it at some point Suffice it to say I am no longer an Objectivist and do not believe that Rand's philosophy leads to good outcomes

I agree, I do remember reading it while incarcerated, and it was profound in the moment. Fountainhead was a good read too. Views evolve though!

I think her books resonate with people in certain places in life (high school especially, feeling powerless more generally) because they have this inspiring message of individual empowerment and a promise of independence from oppression through force of will alone
