Can't believe I'm debating mobility vs speed in my head again. It's been ten years The trade-off is going to be different for everyone. But as we each decide whether to buy plate carriers, ballistic helmets, etc, it's important to ask: can I run in this?
This is NOT me discouraging armor in these fucked-up times. But ask yourself: hour 5 of a protest--standing and running from cops the whole time--will you be able to make that last sprint to avoid end-of-night arrests? For some people that's a yes, and they should buy armor

1/ I have been blasting this to everyone I hear talking about buying plate carriers. steel plates are h e a v y. ceramics are expensive. if you cannot run faster than the oinkers, or your mobility is restricted because of gear,
2/ you're making yourself a target of opportunity. Most amount of gear you can wear that doesn't big you down and can be removed and stowed for ezfil if necessary.
