Extremely fucking sad about the removal of the elk statue. It's always been one of my favorite statues in Portland even before the sacrificial fires began If last night's fire destabilized it I'm sad about that too May our sacred elk return soon

According to the PPB press release the fire from last night damaged the elk base and the statue was at risk of toppling Tough for me to trust anything the cops say at this point but I don't know anything about the effect of fire on an elk statue so...

That's a good idea. Then the inscription on the base can memorialize the citizens' fight against police brutality, racism, and BLM. It could be a citizens' donation that symbolizes peoples' love for the city and their desire to rebuild it.
