A black femme gets on the megaphone by the fence. The crowd gathers. It begins. Everyone in the park, no one in the street so far
We chant the names in the street Monday they immediately told us to clear the street. Today, nothing. It is arbitrary, and it could change any moment Once you accept that your actions have no effect on the presence or absence of police violence, it all gets much easier
"I am sorry if I sound like an angry black woman on the mic, but that's what I am! I am so angry! 400 years of this shit!!" She is telling the story of each name before we chant them. There are so many names
I have seen camera evidence that the officer in the window above is a mannequin
"Bottom, tops: we all hate cops!" This chant has the Misanthrophile seal of approval Still no sign of the police
Two cops out in the back of the JC. Two people talking to them
#defendpdxpic.twitter.com/dlqxDcWQR6
Definitely starting to see patrol cars lurking about
Heading to the murals at the Apple Store
The ancient argument begins anew: "Don't leave the justice center!" Part of it is boredom. Part of it, perhaps, that we've been trained to leave around this time I dont love it. We are so small tonight, we should not split up AT ALL Stakes feel pretty low tonight tho
Reports of a dumpster fire on 2nd and Main
A lot of smoke, flashing lights. We move towards it
Just another dumpster fire. Why not? Its 2020 We move to the back of the JCpic.twitter.com/26bFWlM08A
At the back of the JC. I would like to state for the record that in no way is anyone impeding efforts to put our the fire that I can see
Some enterprising young folks have moved trash cans and a road closed sign to block the cop exit. Cameras have been spray-painted I waited to tweet this until they reacted, but its been 10 minutes and nothing. More proof that police reactions have nothing to do with our actionspic.twitter.com/JXYbX9Ppsw
People have scaled the sacred fence and are decorating the boards over the justice center windows. You love to see it
And still 0 reaction. I am flabbergasted. Is this the same PPB that arrested people on Sunday for standing in a park after midnight?! Yes. It is. Because their use of force is totally arbitrary
Absolute mayhem. Fence blocking 3rd street. Fence blocking main street. 0 reaction, no cops in sight
A huge fight just broke out. A van was frustrated that protesters were in the street. They ran into some of the debris in the road and I guess it fucked up their car. The driver and two pasengers jumped out and and attacked the protesters. Punched several people in the face
Not proud boys, I think. Black. I got the plate Then the police DID show up. Threw something that looked like smoke or gas. Lots of flash bang. I think they're majorly understaffed
The protest has scattered--not enough of us to form a group at this point I'm gonna call it a night. Solidarity to everyone still out here
