It strikes me that if this author got this much space to write an article--a word count to turn writers around the world green with envy--he could in fact have engaged in the reasoned debate he claims is being silenced. It seems there's room for dissent here after all

(He could also view the debate over whether NYT should have platformed Tom Cotton's advocating using force to smash first amendment rights as a reasoned debate, which it very much is. After all, the NYT does not run every unhinged editorial they're sent)
