The 82nd is a unit for killing. It is steeped in stores of WWII glory and thinks of itself as a machine that destroys US enemies I am thankful that commanders saw this, that the safety net of American military tradition against interfering in the civilian realm held strong
But I am terrified that this safety net--one of our last--is being tested I am furious that the guard had to subjugate protesters I wonder how much longer this safety net can hold
