Dear dude at Pioneer Square last night taking pictures: I owe you an apology for not speaking up when I should have This was during the peaceful part of the protest: massive crowds, speeches, more like a summer concert than a demonstration. Media, speakers, cameras everywhere

Two white femme people aggressively ordered you to stop taking pictures. When you protested that you weren't photographing individuals, that everyone had cameras, they accused you of mansplaining and doxxing, then said that as a cis white man you needed to shut the fuck up

Afterwards I told you that was some bullshit, but I didn't say it to them and that was wrong. Maybe it was exhaustion, wanting to save energy to oppose cops and not fellow protesters. Maybe it was cowardice. Maybe all of the above But you didn't deserve to be treated that way

I wish I'd said: hey, stop it. This is a peaceful public event with thousands of people and hundreds of cameras: getting photographed here is normal and not doxxing. You're way out of line Fellow protesters: be vigilant, but be sensible as well. Don't do that shit
