Sometimes I go walking with my dog and another dog will bark at us from inside the house and the the owner will scream at the dog to shut the fuck up and it's like nooooo the dog is trying to protect you because they love you please be nice to your dog :(

When my dog barks, I say good girl, and she quits barking. I acknowledge her perceived threat and that is all it takes. People who make a big deal about the barking make a dog that barks all the time.
