I confess, in my darker moods, I want the D’s to get their asses handed to them in the election, just so they learn lessons about not making unforced errors. Or being arrogant. (Not that I want the GOP to prevail). Too bad they can’t both lose.
I also have these moods, followed by the darker thought that if they didn't learn from 2016 how much can we actually expect them to learn from 2020?

Good question. In history of science, some think that real change occurs only when an older generation finally retire/dies off and a new generation takes over. We might need the same in politics. (And yes, I know I’m at the edge of the Boomer generation that is so problematic.)
