This isn't selfish or greedy. This is the best thing you can do right now to help your community. There will be people who need help and it is going to strain our gov't and local orgs to their breaking point. If you don't need those resources, they can go to help someone else

If you keep healthy and well-fed, you will better be able to assist in helping others. You'll be able to organize and bring food/care to the people who need it most

The suburban storess, from what I hear, are better-stocked than city stores. If you can, get your ass out there and get stocked up. Ask a friend for a ride if you don't have a car. Hell, ask me if you're in PDX There's still a little time left, but the clock is ticking

Can confirm about smaller areas. The Costco and grocery stores in Wilmington, NC show no sign of running dry on anything.

Same here. But this is the heart of "It Can't Happen Here"-istan, so I do worry what it will look like when it does, in fact, happen here.

Can’t help but notice it’s my veteran friends who seem the least “can’t happen here” types. They’re all “water, food, ammo, communication.”

I think veterans know that if shit really hits the fan they can't count on the National Guard or government programs to save them We've all been fucked over by the government, and we've all met the National Guard

Hahaha yeah that checks out. I was going with once you’ve lived somewhere where the normal rules don’t really apply you see how fragile societies really can be.
