For me, it took years. Probably started in 2012 and very gradually led me to become the Bernie Bro I am today Theory: Objectivists oppose the status quo and want radical change. It's easier for an Oist to adopt an ideology of radical change than to become a status quo liberal

I'm not sure I would go quite so far as to say it's easier to become a radical than remain a liberal (which most Oists are, by our understanding of the term). It's probably in many ways easier for Oists than the general population though.

Or maybe, it is easier for Objectivists to become radicals *without their hand being forced by their material conditions* than it is for most people.

Yes!! That's much closer to what I was trying to say

Was thinking about this again today and something else occurred to me. The original title for "Atlas Shrugged" was "The Strike," and the book is chock full of elites who prey upon the common people in all sorts of ways.

In a world where Bernie loses, will you all sit out?

If he comes into the convention with a pledged delegate lead and the party elites steal it from him to hand to someone else, I'm 100% out. If Biden wins it fairly I will probably vote for him if my vote seems needed in WA (which it probably will be, Trump would dismantle Biden).

I'm getting the "will you sit yourself out?" question a lot lately which makes me worried Democrats are mentally prepping themselves to lose again. Just like in 2016, they're getting ready to put forth a dogshit candidate and then blame everyone but themselves when he loses.

But the *really* worrying thing is how few Democrats seem to grasp that there's not a very big difference in the long run between electing Biden or Trump this year.

agree that fear is driving many democrats toward a mediocre candidate. do not agree that Biden and trump are the same. people said the same thing in 2000 to justify their vote for Nader. The world turns out worse when we refuse to accept this as a lesser of two evils contest.

It isn't that kind of contest yet. Bernie is still very much in the running, despite media efforts to portray Biden as an inevitability. The delegate count says Bernie is basically tied, we can absolutely do this and there's no reason to talk like we can't

Oh totally, it's funny, yesterday I read a "Bernie is still in a remarkably strong position" which came out on just before Super Tuesday and it was interesting how little of it you would need to change to print it today.

A stiff breeze could knock over the Joe Biden campaign, so even better that the entire Democratic establishment has tied itself to his mast.
