The campaign taking action in the courts feels like a substantial improvement over the the president taking aim from the Oval Office.
I hear what you're saying, but libel suits against major media outlets from the oval office for covering a news story strike me as pretty not great. Until now, it was mostly just botching over Twitter which was definitely not great, but now he's taking actual action

Well the courts won’t accept it if it’s frivolous. The case for defamation (libel or slander) is very narrow as a public figure.
