She said she remembers when she WASN'T doing well and people would tell her she was only criticizing capitalism because she was too lazy/shitty to succeed. "Get a job!" That sort of thing. At what income bracket, she wondered aloud, is one allowed to criticize capitalism?

Arguing that someone participates in a system they had little choice over is childish. Ayn Rand criticized Social Security, but still drew SS at the end of her life. Why not? She wasn’t given a choice to participate, but there is nothing wrong with using what is in front of you.

I have a lot of issues with Ms. Rand at this point, but I agree with you here: that argument bothers the hell out of me and always has We do indeed live in a society, and refusing to starve and die is NOT endorsement
