Padilla, the son of Mexican immigrants who worked as a cook and a house cleaner, was sworn in as California’s first Latinx secretary of state in 2015. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus backed Padilla as the pick for the Senate role.

I agree. Now we have to get more Latinos to actually vote for Democrats. The republican party has nothing for them.
Lee and Bass should consider running for the Senate in 2022 when, I believe, Padilla's seat will be up. Or for Feinstein's seat (I can't believe she'll run again). It is hairsplitting situation as Padilla is a very good choice.
