at google every time the tests fail it gets added to the PR’s comments so after the 60th time or so they fail you just copy all the changes over to a new PR, delete the old one, and hope nobody notices

That’s actually a valid use of git rebase but I have yet to see the “too many merge commits: better rebase to tidy it” thing go smoothly and I have a workmate who regularly attempts it.

arggghhhh it's like when people merge PRs by rebasing on top of master and end up destroying the important historical context of the commits that git was designed around keeping
