FEC July Quarter results are in.
Nancy Pelosi spent an extraordinary $2 million in Q2 out of $2.8M in, and she has $7M in the bank including cash held over from previous cycles.
This is how establishment politics works. She is a powerhouse of the machine

Details of note: Shahid Buttar raised solid 5-digits but that bought fundraising consultants; the campaign gained $4354 net Apr-July
$1.08 : $1
John Dennis(R) tho, is spending about as much and raising at about 2:1
Pelosi about 3:2

And Eric Curry did fine for a first quarter, but it concerns me he's already passed the $1000 individual contribution limit; if #HR1 ever clears the Senate, neither Mr Curry nor Mr Buttar will qualify for the 6x multiple, fund their campaigns publicly.

And this seems like an unforced error. It makes me wonder if a candidate would be able to refund excess contributions after HR1 passes and still qualify. A lot depends on planning to do that in advance though; can't refund what you already spent. (Unless you use new money—Don't!)

As for me, I'm not asking for money until #HR1 passes, or it's clear that it won't. At some point I may have to either buy into the machine or bow out, but right now I'm going to take some time to think. My only expenses so far have been establishing my campaign platform.

And until I see a good path where spending more will actually be a net good (and I don't personally consider junk mail and evening phone calls a net good), happy to run consultant-free. Clawing our way our of a pandemic, keep your money, and support people who want you to keep it
