Don't blame the voting system.
@chesaboudin won because he should have won. I voted for him myself. The system works, but no voting system can predict what an official will do once they are elected. That's why stories like this are important.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

He won by fewer than 3000 votes in the third round of ranked choice voting. He - for whatever ideology he professes - didn’t secure a wide mandate, but of course there’s also “prosecutorial discretion”. Can I ask why you voted for him?

I was hungry, and I could have really gone for a bread bowl right then...
Nah, I liked his campaign statements. I like his message about holding police accountable, and bringing a new approach to the DA's office. Given the options I read, I picked Chesa "for Change"1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I'd have to dig out my old ballot, but checking ballotpedia, I still like what he was saying. 1. Break cycle of recidivism 2. Enforce laws equally 3. Prioritize victims rights.https://ballotpedia.org/Chesa_Boudin

Here's the original pamphlet courtesy of @SFPublicLibrary .
It also mattered to me that he was a public defender. It's a hard job for not a lot of money. In contrast to 2 deputy DAs and a city legal counsel, public defender carries weight in my mind.
