yes sunday night but idk muslims never talk about it that way? at least MENA muslims. google always puts it as the night before but that’s confusing for us

On the other hand, Wikipedia lists it as May 2, May 3. It's definitely not May 3 🤷🏻♂️

it does because it’s based on the possibility of ramadan starting apr 2 or apr 3. but now that we know the start date, there’s only two possibilities. a lunar month can’t possibly be 31 days. that’s why it’s weird when things like wiki like to make the dates appear set in stone

I checked my astrolabe; the Moon already passed its conjunction with the sun a few hours ago around noon, so there's no chance the crescent won't be sighted in Mecca next sundown.
... Science 🤗

Actually, I take that back. The crescent might still be so slight next evening Mecca-time that they don't call it. I'm not a cleric.
(Shown in local SF time, Mecca lat-long)
OK, India and Pakistan will delay to 3rd May, but UAE and Morocco are already set in declaring 2nd of May as 1 Shawwal, so going country-by-county, the US will definitely see the moon tomorrow. Also, Morocco has a number to call if you see the moon first!

it’s always weird like this every year. but saudi arabia declared monday eid and most of the mid east is following suit. so the USA will usually follow saudi arabia 😂
