The only trick worth learning is that you need to *tag off* at the destination, even though there aren't any gates like BART. Otherwise you'll be charged the max ticket value.
Oh, and not every train goes to every station; there are two staggered commuter routes morning/evening.
And in the before-times, an even more limited "baby bullet", but that seems to have gone away in the latest schedule. It made a difference of 20-30 mins from mid Pen to the City, if you were lucky enough to have your station on that one.
