i'm hoping this is only the start, can't wait to see what comes out of this. i always felt like the web's rich with awesome technologies like threejs. they're often imperative and don't mesh well with todays component oriented architectures, but react-reconciler mends the gaps.

Amazing. What are the GPU driven elements? What are they made out of? WebGL?
-
yes. threejs. but driven via react-three-fiber as self-contained components. once they're in the scene they render themselves, when they unmount they clean up. each component can influence the way it renders by hooking into the render-loop via react hooks.https://github.com/react-spring/react-three-fiber …

Yeah. I do want to say this react mix has some rough edges, BUT, it's amazing to use only react and spring to build all of this, touching so many concerns at once.
-
for sure, let's even them out
i have v4 up and running as beta which takes care of some of the obvious missing parts, adds new react apis. but i think in the future something like a small eco system for components which abstract the residual imperative stuff would be nice.

I guess accessibility would need to be completely built from ground up
-
Not necessarily, at least if you have a clean cut between layout (dom) and visuals. But it's something to investigate for sure. There will be a
@codrops article about this hopefully this week.

why is there a loader on a modern website?
-
3d assets are big. i guess with pre-loading, suspense and fallbacks you could remove some of it, but a detailed model still will weight something.
