If you're an enterprise and aren't constantly scanning your own stuff from a remote IP that doesn't belong to you, I highly suggest you start now. Because everyone else already is.

The number of enterprises who still forbid their own security teams from performing random security scans, tests and penetration attempts... Because, as you say, someone on the Internet is, and it might as well be someone you pay, instead of someone hunting for valuables.

We had a meeting with a Microsoft PFE last week who was equally horrified and intrigued when I told him I'd RE'd the configuration schema in ATA to do hourly exclusion updates with a PowerShell script because we have ~200 scanners running at any one time
