Actually putting some thought into this - Ordering on your phone through a QR code is basically indistinguishable from ordering through one of the food delivery apps, except that you are somewhere other than home. But it’s a collapsing of the aesthetic and cultural distinction

Some now unless you are in a super fancy restaurant that justifies being somewhere other than home, you a basically ubering your food from across the room except now you’re surrounded by strangers and you’re not in the comfort of your own house. But the point was to go out -

Indeed it was - but the difference is vanishing and the downsides of eating out are becoming more apparent as the nostalgic cultural and social norms that have evolved inside the inefficiencies of the physical world have been evaporated away through a screen yet again

Another possibility - all the components of the QR system have been around for ages - but it took a system shock to move everyone into a new and obvious paradigm

I think a lot of people feel an unarticulated unease about this because it makes them wonder what other obvious and quick to implement off-the-shelf systems will obviate their jobs or roles or cherished norms in the next few years
