Entropy is simultaneously an epistemic and a physical quantity. Not by analogy; the same concept at the same time. Chew on that for a minute; epistemic interactions are basic to our kind of matter.

Matter is inherently intelligent, but its default state is sin. By equilibrium, evolution, and experiment built in layers on that basic primary intelligence, we stumble at an accelerating pace towards wisdom and virtue, towards union with the Will behind creation.

We march towards wisdom inexorably, but also by our own logic, and by free choice. Evil is inherent in free choice, but is redeemed by the inevitable triumph of good by its own power. Is this not just what the doctors of theology told us? But I derive it from thermodynamics.
