Why do so many people hate cargo shorts? They are versatile: you can do manual work with them, but they can also go with polos or even a buttondown shirt in a pinch. They have more pockets than jean shorts, and the brand name ones like Eddie Bauer and Gap are just as durable.

Hmm I think this strikes true - like with backpacks. Unless you completely max out with something like a Goruck and then I’m not sure what happens with status games. Maybe aesthetics can overrule usefulness in status calculation
