Are people really pissed off about private space exploration? It seems good to me, don't know why people would get mad about it.

Same attacks occur when government exploration happens & the same vitriol isn’t directed at each new hundred million dollar marvel movie. It comes from a fear of an expansion of the realm of human concern and the decentering of the narcissistic psychodramas of the people yelling

A narcissists worst nightmare is you not being obligated to engage with them. Exiting the gravity well represents the escape of your otherwise captive audience.
In space no one has to care when an authoritarian (left or right) screams
