1/ Memes aside - our proximity (regardless of whether it’s 5, 50 or 100 years) to AGI only makes the Fermi paradox more extreme. The fact *none* of the cosmos has been visibly deconstructed by some previous civ’s (misaligned?) AI raises *huge* questions…
2/ more than anything else, this has convinced me we are alone (or the most advanced? The first?) in the galaxy (even the visible universe?)
However…. let’s entertain the idea that pilots, military personnel and navy fleets do actually see truly inexplicable things.

How do you reconcile seemingly intelligent “phenomena” as reported and the obviously uneaten-by-AI cosmos?
being alone in the galaxy/universe, Earth is an incredibly interesting place.
So… we’re in flatland. And we’ve attracted the attention of *something…*

4/ alternatively the reports are all wrong, it’s all a psyop and there are no humanity-curious tesseracts
In which case *we* are The Old Ones and the cosmos awaits

If we're wrong about the difficulty of alignment, how difficult would it be for an advanced civ capable of encasing the stars to leave a facsimile of them around developing civs so as not to confound their scientific development? (An unaligned AI would most likely not, of course)

looked into this and if I remember correctly the answer was something to the effect of “to say impossible is an understatement is itself an understatement”
