1/ Memes aside - our proximity (regardless of whether it’s 5, 50 or 100 years) to AGI only makes the Fermi paradox more extreme. The fact *none* of the cosmos has been visibly deconstructed by some previous civ’s (misaligned?) AI raises *huge* questions…

2/ more than anything else, this has convinced me we are alone (or the most advanced? The first?) in the galaxy (even the visible universe?)
However…. let’s entertain the idea that pilots, military personnel and navy fleets do actually see truly inexplicable things.

How do you reconcile seemingly intelligent “phenomena” as reported and the obviously uneaten-by-AI cosmos?
being alone in the galaxy/universe, Earth is an incredibly interesting place.
So… we’re in flatland. And we’ve attracted the attention of *something…*

4/ alternatively the reports are all wrong, it’s all a psyop and there are no humanity-curious tesseracts
In which case *we* are The Old Ones and the cosmos awaits

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but why would things need to become more outlandish on our individual branches pre-leapfrog/upload? Is this assuming quantum suicide is real, and either you live to this reality's singularity-

Correct - QS is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. You should expect to keep finding yourself in increasingly improbable branches (we already are really) because you can’t find yourself anywhere else as time unfolds

technically everything that happened in our universe is a plot spoiler for Anathem once we shear into their causal domain
