If alien civilisations exist then it should be trivially easy for them to explore the galaxy with self-replicating automated drones over long enough time scales. In short - their machines probably have ( but maybe they *are* machines themselves)
I agree this is the most likely way they would visit. Aliens most likely are some kind of AI and they probably do a lot of exploration with self-replicating nanobots. Which means it would be very hard to detect them.
Ofc maybe rare earth and life is very very spread out

Agree, and the first visit may have occurred a billion years ago.
Since then, they have been sending back regular updates, every few million years.
