Putting in a request for a single imperial state governing the planet for next few centuries. It’s sole reason for being is reducing xrisk and ensuring we get through whatever great filter is keeping the stars quiet.

The issue is that political diversity etc is actually functional. You need an ecosystem of competing orders or you get homogenization into something very mortal.
Global superstate is a great dream, but it doesn't solve the key civilizational problems, and creates some new ones.

Yeah, this is why I'm totally fine with a very broad and taboo-tolerant political culture, it's far more robust to correlated failures.

Possible - but I would guess if civilisations other than ours haven’t already taken the stars it is because they all failed to solve their inter-tribal conflicts on their home planet rather than they all managed to resolve them and doing so constitutes a filter in every case
