I’m not. I’m opposed to a foreign government collecting everything on outside citizens at scale and then being able to target after the fact. There are activist students who are falling foul of 🇨🇳 here in Aus. The security of their data is paramount.

I agree re: collection in general. I think what sometimes gets undervalued in threat modelling is change across time. The trail you leave today doesn’t matter - but geopolitically in 20 years time? Not to invoke Godwin’s law, but Nazis sucked up a lot of foreign census data
