Very interested in this topic. But also cautious about tribal confirmation. What do we actually know about UFOs that we can independently replicate? Want to make sure we aren’t caught up in Gell-Mann amnesia. So much else of what NYT reports these days is false or distorted.

At least two explanations. 1) The catabolism of our institutions means all the secrets are coming out. Like the Katyn reveal at the end of the USSR. 2) Or, the same phenomenon is producing a breakdown in evidentiary standards across society. Want to believe! But need data.

As an example of what you can look at for yourself, here’s the UK government UFO archives: nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos/ If this is real, we should push for an open sourcing of all primary data so the public (and scientists/engineers) can evaluate the raw evidence.

I’ve also taken something of an anthropologists interest in the UFO community. Overrun with cranks, grifters and disinformation. Needs huge influx of legit researchers and thinkers. Field needs a “Less Wrong” revolution in thought like AI had
