Elsewhere in that novel Liu makes clear that the Dark Forest metaphor need not apply to human/human relations since all humans share a fundamental basis for trust: understanding of each other’s nature, needs and motives, and the possibility of mutual benefit in cooperation.

From the article **”chains of suspicion” and the risk of a “technological explosion” in another civilization mean that in space there can only be the law of the jungle.** I would argue that the possibility of developing AGI guarantees this between China & America
