Australia is over populated. We already have water problems that we have been bickering about for decades. But by all means, build another population center to ruin our environment.

Or just use solar, Australia has probably the best solar potential in the world and ample space. Solar is getting cheaper all the time, and can be up and running way before nuclear (unfortunately as I am a fan of nuclear for northern countries like UK)
