There are many fundamentals. Death and taxes in particular people don't want to hear, but are much more fundamentally enforced by God Himself than whatever ideals we might cling to.

Yes. On how long we can live, there are various places to invest our efforts, with some tradeoffs: individual human, individual bloodline, culture/ideas, social institutions, civilization, humanity overall, earth-origin generalized-life overall. What can we get? Let's find out.

On taxes, afaict, you pay what Caesar can take from you, minus what he magnanimously defers as a grant to you to manage as you see fit. That latter component is significant if caesar is wise and long-term oriented and you are competent, but not near total.

If you have no ability to shape the system, you have to accept it, but if you have any ability, then you must fight for a better future for all humanity. Taxes / policy are a big part of making that happen. As for Caesar: sic semper tyrannis

Yes. Much complicated given partial ability to shape the system. Given large ability to shape the system, you are caesar!

I don't think this axiom is necessary but there are yet unsolved conceptual problems in how to reconcile citizenship with hierarchy.
