It boggles my mind how receptive people are to being lied to. You don't have to know much about Islam to spot the most obvious distortions, just take the time to stop and think! But Qasim Rashid knows that his audience *wants* to hear this, he knows he will not be called-out.

There *will* be a backlash, and a nasty one. Receptive progressives who want to believe will do so, but everyone else will come to mistrust Muslims as a whole (and, in turn, the progressives who support them). The right-wing charge of "Taqqiyah" will gain broad sympathy.

Totally agree with you, sarah. I had him on my show and tried to push back against his incredibly rosey view of Islam but I doubt I got through, haha.
