Someone should write an app to untangle OAuth permissions, e.g. help me deactivate my Facebook account without losing access to services that use my Facebook credentials.

Years back I interviewed for a product management position at Apple with a focus on privacy issues. When I was preparing for my interviews, I thought a lot about the mess of OAuth credentials I was building. It was so unwieldy I maintain a graph.

The best advice for 2019 is to create a new account with EVERY service (that’s an OAuth provider) and lean on a password manager.

I just remembered that
@al3x and I considered building a non-profit OAuth provider around this time.@KeybaseIO (a for-profit) has a lot of the features we considered (e.g. ubiquitous GPG). I still wish someone (@EFF maybe) would build this.1 reply 1 retweet 1 likeShow this thread
I was blown away by the success of @letsencrypt (from @linuxfoundation). Maybe they should consider it.
