The government's own figures were that by August 14th 2022 41% of school teachers had gotten covid at least once, for a baseline comparison 26% of tertiary education teachers had. But so much for advocating to protect the workforce.

It’s critically important that the new Health Minister does not lose sight of our COVID response. The pandemic is far from over & our response to COVID must continue to prioritise the safety of our communities, especially our immunocompromised and disabled whānau.

A few weeks ago I wrote this about an employee who was silenced by her colleagues and her #manager with regard to #COVID19 risk in the workplace. It had a huge audience. If you feel your workplace is not doing enough - please know you are not alone.

Important thread on long Covid

I don’t know what to say… we’ve been saying this since before the first case arrived here. Yet nobody wanted to take advice from those of us who have been living with post viral illness, CFS, fibromyalgia etc. for years 🤷🏽‍♀️ Long COVID is absolutely a disability. twitter.com/newshubnz/stat…

"We know there is hardship for a very small number of people" Without prevalence studies how can you know the numbers? And how is it acceptable that ANYONE be left in dire straits due to this disease?

Adding my own tip to this: if you can’t access a contrast mammogram, but you’re young or have been told you have dense breasts, ask if you can have an ultrasound in addition to a mammogram. And if you can possibly afford it, pay for your own screening from 40, it’s free from 45.

Important thread, generously shared by Yvonne. People with breasts, know your 'normal' & ask your dr about your density. It matters, for both risk and diagnosis of bc. We're not routinely advised and may elect for extra screening (eg ultrasound, contrast enhanced mammogram). twitter.com/yvonnemax/stat…
