I was wrong... midfoot striking seems to be better for long distance running.

Looks like forefoot striking is the most efficient and safest way to run, you just need to learn how, and train your body to adapt.

ran 11miles (17.7kms). Right calf muscle still hurting. But when I forced myself to be a real forefoot striker, the pain disappeared.
