For me, having my laptop here and twittering is stopping me grading. I must now instill a twitter curfew.

I think good students use laptops very wisely in class - esp. in large lectures. I like them less when I want students to participate more
|

@rubaiyat - no computers and students looked at me as though I was from a different planet when I suggested they could use laptops in class!
|

Makes for really respectful environments, although their reseach skills are not very good. I think they miss out being less computer savvy.

@rubaiyat, @cookieevans, @slowe - students in Fresno thought I was barmy when I talked about laptop policy. They don't have them. Too poor.

@kidneutrino - no to generalisations: at Foothill, I had 5 - yes five - people with PhD's. - that class was GREAT - still in touch with them
